What inspectors found

Moorlands Residential Care Home is a care home registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 19 people. At the time of our inspection, 19 people were using the service. The service also provides domiciliary care, which is care in the community, and this is registered at the same address. We did not look at the domiciliary care service as part of this inspection.

We found the following examples of good practice.
Visitors to the service were required to have a negative lateral flow test and were required to wear PPE.
Staff were wearing appropriate PPE and the service had ample supplies. PPE stations were readily available and kept well stocked.
The provider understood the principles of isolating, cohorting and zoning, and implemented appropriate measures when required. The provider had robust COVID-19 risk assessments in place.
The provider had up to date infection control policies and COVID-19 policies. The provider carried out infection control audits and implemented action plans to address any issues found.
Staff had received infection control training, including online training. The service had appointed a COVID-19 champion who attended additional training and meetings.
The service used a communication book to ensure staff were kept up to date with changes in COVID-19 guidance.
