What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 1 May 2026 (assessment visit 29 September 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of assessment: 18 February – 2 April 2026. Wythall Residential Care Home is a care home providing support for up to 22 older people some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 19 people living at the service. This assessment was to follow up on the enforcement action taken at the last inspection and review whether the provider remained in breach of any legal regulations. At our last inspection in 2023 this service was rated requires improvement and the provider remained in breach of regulations relating to safe care and treatment, safeguarding and good governance. They had also not met all the conditions issued in a previous warning notice. Based on the findings from this assessment the provider had met the conditions of the previous warning notice and were no longer in breach of regulations.

The provider had taken steps to make some improvements to systems and processes. They had appointed a manager who had registered with the Care Quality Commission. This had led to improved communication with healthcare professionals, and clearer monitoring of people’s health needs. There had been some improvements in areas of medicines management, however, we did find some shortfalls. We bought these to the attention of the registered manager and provider who took prompt action to address.

Feedback systems required strengthening. At the time of our assessment, resident and relative meetings were not routinely taking place, and surveys had not been used to gather people’s views. This limited opportunities for people to directly influence service development.

Governance systems had improved but were not consistently identifying all compliance issues. Policies in some areas required updating to ensure they aligned with best practice guidance.

The environment was clean, well maintained and supported safe care.
