The assessment took place between 30 September 2024 and 5 October 2024. We visited the service on 30 September 2024 and 2 October 2024. During this assessment we assessed the quality statements under the key questions of safe, effective, responsive and well-led to check the provider had followed their action plan to make improvements.
We found the service had made improvements and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations. The rating has changed from requires improvement (published 8 February 2023) to good.
The management of the service and provider had created a culture where people and their relatives were listened to, incidents were investigated, and lessons were learnt to identify and embed good practice. Adverse events were reviewed and actioned by the management team, for example, safety checks undertaken by staff, were audited and checked by the management team. This enabled the management team to make continuous improvements.

Safe
Good
People were safe and protected from harm. Risks were managed well. There were enough staff who were skilled to provide care and support. People received medicines as prescribed. Lessons were learnt from events within the home. Infection prevention and control measures were robust.
People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment when this is in their best interests and legally authorised under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). In care homes, and some hospitals, this is usually through MCA application procedures called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA, whether appropriate legal authorisations were in place when needed to deprive a person of their liberty, and whether any conditions relating to those authorisations were being met.
-
Effective
Good
People’s needs were assessed, and they received care that achieved their outcomes. Eagles Mount Care Home worked with external professionals and services to meet people’s needs, including their health needs. The home had access to resources to support people to live healthier lives. Consent was sought and people were involved in their health and wellbeing; people told us they were able to make choices about their care. If there was a concern a person lacked capacity to make individual decisions, an assessment was carried out in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA ).
-
Responsive
Good
People received the most appropriate care and treatment for them as the service made reasonable adjustments where necessary.
Care and support plans reflected people’s health and social care needs. Relevant assessments were completed and up-to-date, from pre-admission through to ongoing reviews of care, including cultural and religious preferences.
-

Good
