We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider was meeting the principles of Right support, right care, right culture.
We spoke with the registered manager and 1 staff member. We found people were protected from risk of abuse and risks to people were managed well. Robust recruitment checks had taken place before staff started working at the service. There were enough staff to support people and meet their needs. Risks to people had been assessed to ensure their needs were safely met. Staff were trained in areas specifically related to peoples care needs and they received regular supervision. Staff told us they received good support from the registered manager.
There were systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service, and any learning was identified and acted on. People opinions about the service were considered through surveys and spot checks.
