We carried out this assessment on 17 August 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.

People told us they felt safe living at the home and relatives spoke positively about the care and support provided. We observed kind, respectful and unhurried interactions between staff and people throughout the day. Staff supported people safely with mobility and equipment, explaining what they were doing and offering reassurance. Medicines were managed safely across the home, with good systems in place, strong oversight and effective involvement from GPs and other health professionals. Staff told us, “I have had my medication competency assessed, which is important to ensure safe practice”.

The environment was clean, well maintained and free from hazards, with appropriate safety checks completed and equipment in good order. However, the environment was not conducive to supporting people with Dementia to help them navigate their way around the home to promote their independence.

People received care from kind and compassionate staff who knew them well, understood their individual needs and provided support in a responsive, respectfuland person-centred way. Comments from staff included “Staff work hard to meet individual needs, and there are systems in place to support safe and effective care.” A relative told us, “They [staff] know what she needs. They will call the GP if needed”.

Staff were recruited safely and retention of staff was good which provided consistency for people which was important to them.

Care plans were in place and covered key areas of people’s needs and risks. We observed staff knew people’s individual needs well.

Staff described the culture of the home as ‘supportive, caring and focused on the wellbeing of residents, and very welcoming’.

The home had a stable management team that led by example. Staff described the manager being ‘approachable, helpful and visible in the home’ which was important to them. Staff told us the management team “Emphasise the importance of people's safety, dignity, wellbeing and quality of care”.

People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions they had choice, control and freedom over their lives.
