Maranello is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care. The service provides support to people with a Learning disability and autistic people. At the time of our inspection there were 9 people living there.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and/or who are autistic. We found the provider had made the necessary improvements and was meeting this guidance.

People were supported by a staff team that had the skills, knowledge and oversight needed to keep them safe. Risk assessments, care plans and Positive Behaviour Support plans had been reviewed and updated to reflect people's current needs and provided staff with clear guidance on how to manage risks whilst promoting independence. Medicines governance had improved through strengthened oversight, regular audits and the introduction of a designated medicines room. Staffing arrangements had also improved, with greater workforce stability, improved deployment of staff and sufficient staffing levels to meet people's needs safely.

These improvements were supported by stronger leadership and governance arrangements. A stable management team had begun to embed effective quality assurance systems, including regular audits, quality reviews, action plans and increased management oversight. Staff consistently described improvements in communication, leadership visibility and support, and told us they felt listened to, supported and clear about expectations. Records demonstrated learning from incidents was shared through handovers, supervision, staff meetings and cascade meetings, helping to drive continuous improvement and safer practice.

The improvements made were having a positive impact on people. We observed a calm and positive culture where people appeared comfortable, engaged and supported by staff who knew them well. People were accessing meaningful activities, community opportunities and personalised support that reflected their individual needs and preferences. Overall, the evidence demonstrated the provider had taken effective action to address the concerns identified at the previous inspection.
This service has been in Special Measures since 29 September 2025. The provider demonstrated improvements had been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.
