What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 26 August 2026 (assessment visit 28 May 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Date of assessment: 1 June 2026
Everycare (Wessex) is a domiciliary care agency which provides support to people in their own homes. It operates in Dorchester and surrounding areas. The service provides care and support to people with a variety of needs including dementia, mental health and physical disability. We undertook an announced inspection visit to the service on 1 June 2026.
This assessment reviewed the quality statements under all key questions safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider understood the requirements of ‘Right support, right care, right culture.’
The provider worked with people and healthcare partners to establish and maintain systems of care, in which safety was managed or monitored. Staff, including management, reported any concerns without delay and shared with other agencies appropriately for external scrutiny when needed.
The provider made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff, who received effective support, supervision and training. Staff were recruited safely and received a thorough induction with ongoing support during their initial months of employment.
People received their medicines as prescribed and there were safe procedures in place to ensure this was carried out correctly. The service learned from accidents, incidents and events and shared learning with the wider team.
The service made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and regularly reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. The provider supported people to manage their own health and wellbeing and to maximise their independence, choice and control. Care plans and risk assessments were person centred, and enabled staff to support people effectively. These were reviewed regularly.
The service provided information about their services in a format people could understand.
People knew how to raise any concerns or give feedback on care provided and were confident the service took information seriously and acted on it.
If people needed referrals to healthcare professionals, this was recognised by staff who supported them with this.
All leaders were open and responsive throughout the inspection process.
