As part of the assessment, we spoke with people who used the service and their relatives, staff, as well as reviewing records in relation to people’s support. We looked at all quality standards for this assessment as this was the first assessment of the service since it was registered. We did not identify any concerns about the quality of support people received during this assessment.

People received safe support, that met their individual needs, and the provider routinely reflected the quality of care to identify opportunities for improvement. Staff received training and support needed to meet people’s needs. People's views and those of their families were considered when planning their care.

People’s support was shaped by their wishes and the views of those important to them. The management team had positive relationships with people and their families. Governance systems enabled risks to be identified and to drive improvement.

Care records were consistent and regularly updated. They reflected people’s current needs and risks, enabling staff to deliver safe and person-centred care. Systems for assessing needs, managing risks, and responding to changes in health were in place.

People were supported by the right number of staff to meet their assessed needs. On occasions some people had commented that the starting time of their support was not always maintained within agreed timescales.

Systems to safeguard people and learn from incidents were effective. Concerns were recognised, reported, and acted promptly.

Information was accurate and shared effectively, helping to ensure people received coordinated support that responded to their changing needs. Partnership working with external agencies was effective. The provider was actively involved in the local community and gave examples of how they supported people to continue activities and maintain community links.

Leadership and governance were effective. Systems provided leaders with a clear oversight of risk and performance, and there was evidence of learning, improvement, and sustainable change.
