Key findings
We carried out this assessment on 17 July and 20 July 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.
Safeguarding systems were in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff understood their responsibility and knew how to recognise and report safeguarding concerns. Staff told us they were confident that any concerns would be acted on appropriately by the registered manager. One staff member said, “I am confident speaking up if I feel something is not right and would raise a concern with management. If I felt a concern had not been dealt with appropriately, I would continue to escalate it. I understand that safeguarding and people’s safety must always come first. Because I have supported some clients over a period of time, getting to know people is also important. It can help you recognise when something has changed in their behaviour, presentation or circumstances that may need reporting.
Staff understood the process for recording accidents and incidents, including escalating concerns to the registered manager when required. One staff member said, “I would record any accident or incident through the correct reporting process and make sure the office or management were informed, particularly if there was an immediate concern about someone’s safety or wellbeing.” The manager had clear oversight of all incidents and accidents and identified the need for assistive equipment to support people who had fallen to the floor, provided there was not a need for medical intervention. They invested in a mobile piece of lifting equipment and ensured staff were trained to safely use it. This enabled the service to respond to people quicker and improve outcomes for them.
Risks to people were identified, assessed and managed, including risks associated with the home environment. People’s needs were assessed before care commenced and reviewed regularly to ensure care continued to meet their needs. One staff member told us, “I monitor for any changes during each visit and report concerns promptly. If I notice a person’s needs have changed, I inform the office or my manager so that their care plan and risk assessment can be reviewed and updated.”
Staff understood the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the importance of obtaining consent when delivering care and support. One staff member said, “I treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their age, disability, religion, race, gender or background. I encourage people to make their own choices and support their independence as much as possible. I always respect privacy, maintain confidentiality and make sure people are involved in decisions about their care.”
Staff spoke positively about the service and said they felt listened to. One staff member said, “Working at Bramley Homecare has been a positive experience overall. I enjoy supporting people to remain independent in their own homes and feel that providing compassionate, person-centred care is a priority.” Other comments included, “We are encouraged to share our views. I have had queries dealt with quickly”, “Staff are encouraged to report concerns, incidents and suggestions for improvement. I believe learning from incidents and open communication help improve the quality and safety of the service” and “Management is supportive. Whenever you call them for assistance, they will guide you through any problems or areas you are finding difficult. They are there to help.”
Staff received training and ongoing support to carry out their roles safely and effectively, including the safe administration of medicines.
People, relatives, and staff were encouraged to provide feedback about the service. This included a client advisory board meeting Bi-monthly to discuss improvements made and offer suggestions for additional improvements.
Comments from staff described the management team as approachable and supportive. One staff member said, “In my experience, management are approachable and supportive. I feel able to raise concerns or ask for advice when needed, and I believe staff are encouraged to communicate openly to help maintain safe and effective care.”
Recruitment, governance, and oversight systems were in place to help ensure people received safe care. The service embraced the use of AI (Artificial intelligence) supported technology to improve the outcomes of the people using the service. This included trialling AI supported tools. The service was also committed to reducing their carbon footprint.
