Key findings
We carried out this assessment on 11 August 2026. This service was previously rated good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.
People told us they felt safe at the service and spoke positively about their experiences of care. People were protected from harm and safeguarded by a team of experienced and consistent staff.
People were supported by enough staff who had the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver care safely. Staff were recruited safely and appropriate suitability checks were carried out before the commencement of employment, such as references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Staff received ongoing training and support.
Environmental risks were well managed and regular checks of the care environment and equipment took place. Medicines were managed safely.
People and their relatives were involved in care planning and reviews. Their preferences for care were respected and followed by staff. People received person centred care from staff who knew them well. Staff demonstrated a commitment to ensuring people had choice and control in their lives. A staff member told us, “I take pride in my work, I want people to be able to advocate for themselves, and I want to support them to do that.”
Visiting professionals spoke positively about working with the service. Their comments included, “When I hear people are coming to this service, I am pleased and reassured.” and “Staff implement recommendations made, staff are kind. I would be happy for my relative to receive care at this service.”
Staff were kind and caring, they treated people with dignity and respect. Staff spoke positively about their experiences of working at the service. They told us they felt supported and found their job rewarding. Staff comments included, “I love it here, I think people are safe and happy here, it’s like and like a family.” and “When I first started, the other staff helped me a lot; they showed me how to support people in line with their preferences.”
The service had strong leadership, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Governance and audits were organised and effective. This enabled leaders to identify and address areas for improvement quickly. There were shared values across the service which promoted quality care, choice and independence.
People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the MCA. DoLS authorisations were appropriately applied for and overseen. People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions they had choice, control and freedom over their lives.
