Key findings
We carried out this assessment on 20 October 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard.
People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the provider was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found staff and management worked within the MCA. DoLS authorisations were appropriately applied for and overseen. People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions they had choice, control and freedom over their lives.
There was an exceptionally strong culture of kindness, compassion and dignity. Kindness and compassion were embedded in everyday interactions and had a positive impact on people’s emotional wellbeing and quality of life.
There was an exceptionally strong approach to monitoring and improving people’s outcomes. Staff continuously identified changes in people’s health, nutrition, mobility and wellbeing and acted promptly. This had resulted in significant and sustained improvements.
People received safe, personalised and well-coordinated care from staff who knew them well. Risks were appropriately assessed and managed, safeguarding systems protected people from abuse and avoidable harm, there were enough suitably skilled staff, and medicines were managed safely.
People were involved in decisions about their care and supported to maintain or regain independence, choice and control. They had timely access to health and social care support, including rehabilitation, and staff worked effectively with professionals to support recovery and safe transitions in care.
There was a positive and inclusive culture. Staff felt valued, supported and able to raise concerns. Leaders promoted learning and continuous improvement and used incidents, complaints and feedback to improve the service. Effective governance and quality assurance systems supported oversight and enabled leaders to identify and address areas requiring improvement.
