We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.

Right support: People lived safely and free from unnecessary restrictions because staff were highly proactive and assessed, monitored and managed risks very well. Staff supported people to lead full lives and be as independent as possible. Right care: People were kept safe from avoidable harm because staff knew people well and how to protect them from abuse. Staff were trained how to recognise and report abuse. The service had enough staff to meet people's needs. Right culture: There was a positive culture and people had choice and control over their lives.
