At our last inspection in 2023, we identified a number of breaches of regulation. This included person-centred care, respect and dignity, consent, safe care and treatment, good governance and staff training. At this inspection, we found the provider had made significant improvements, met all of the regulations and were no longer in breach. Although we did find a few concerns relating to the environment, infection control practices and medicines storage. We reported these to the registered manager on the day.

The registered manager had made significant improvements to the service and this was reflective in the systems and processes in place and the way staff were working. Staff were happy at the service and they worked together as a team; they felt supported and had no concerns about speaking up.

The registered manager had ensured there were sufficient staff to meet people’s needs and that information relating to people’s individual risks was clear so staff could act to reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring.

There were good links with external professionals to support people’s care and treatment and the registered manager and staff looked at new innovative ways to ensure people were not socially isolated.

Staff recognised people’s individuality and encouraged people to retain their independence. They also made sure that people were supported to remain healthy and looked at ways of improving people’s lives.

The registered manager had improved the culture within the service through their good management skills and inclusivity not only with staff, but people and their relatives. They acted promptly on shortfalls and encouraged their staff team to reflect on what worked well and what had gone wrong.
