There was an open and transparent culture within the service. The provider was also the registered manager, they were present at the service most days, including working as a nurse. There was a clear management structure. The management team knew their roles and responsibilities to complete checks and audits on the quality of the service. Staff had been recruited safely. Staff had received training and supervision appropriate to their role and there were enough staff to support people safely.

Checks had been completed on the building, environment and equipment. Potential risks to people’s health and welfare had been assessed and there was guidance in place for staff to mitigate the risks. Medicines were managed safely and reviewed regularly by the GP. People had been referred to healthcare professionals when they became unwell or their needs changed. Staff had followed guidance given and reviewed the results to ensure it was effective.

Accidents and incidents had been recorded, analysed and action taken to reduce the risk of them happening again. Safeguarding concerns had been identified and reported to the local authority for investigation. Staff told us they were comfortable and confident to raise concerns, and these would be dealt with.
