The inspection was carried out to review the service’s rating due to the length of time since our previous visit. During this inspection we found that improvements had been made.
Care was provided by a dedicated staff team, led by a registered manager who promoted good care standards across the service. People were cared for in a homely environment, which had recently been updated by the provider.
People were given their medication as prescribed, and the service was supported by a local team of health care professionals which included a regular GP and district nurses. Staff received a good level of training to ensure they were confident in their roles and worked well as a team together to provide good care. One staff member said, “I’m really proud of our home. I feel we do a good job, and people are well cared for.”
Staff had a good understanding of the principles of the Mental Capacity Act which helped safeguard people from abuse. The team worked to ensure people could live as independently as possible and that they had choice in their day to day lives.
People had care plans in place to help monitor and review their care needs. An updated electronic care planning system had recently been implemented which meant care plans were currently under review and being updated. Risks to people had been assessed, however we found some of these records needed expanding to ensure all mitigation had been recorded.
Audits were taking place to help review the quality and safety in the service. Daily note records needed improvement to clearly evidence the care and safety checks provided by staff. The registered manager took feedback on board during the inspection to address these concerns.
