128 Beech Hill is a small care home supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. At the time of the inspection, the service was providing the regulated activity of accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care to 3 people. Not everyone living at the property was receiving a regulated activity; only those who were in receipt of this regulated activity were included within the scope of the inspection. This is because CQC only inspects where people are in receipt of a regulated activity.

People experienced aspects of outstanding person-centred care, driven by staff who demonstrated exceptional empathy, compassion, and understanding. They interpreted information accurately and worked collaboratively and flexibly to ensure support was delivered in ways that genuinely mattered to each person, promoting their wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.

Effective systems were in place to assess, review, and monitor people’s care and needs. People received safe, effective, and well-planned support that was consistently delivered in line with best practice guidance for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Support was consistently person-centred, tailored and responsive, reflecting individual preferences, strengths and goals. Risks were appropriately assessed and managed, and care plans provided clear guidance to staff to deliver safe and effective support.

There were enough suitably skilled staff to ensure continuity of care. Safe recruitment processes were followed. Staff reported feeling valued, respected and supported by management, and described a positive and inclusive culture within the service. Leaders promoted openness and continuous improvement.

Governance systems were effective in monitoring quality and driving improvements. Records were accurate, up to date and used to enhance service delivery. The provider worked collaboratively across teams and services to ensure seamless care, with effective information sharing.

We assessed the service in line with CQC’s ‘Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture’ best practice guidance to judge whether people received respectful, dignified, and person-centred care that promoted their independence, choices, and inclusion in the community.
