The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to consent, safe care and treatment and good governance. Improvements were found at this inspection, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
During the inspection, significant improvements were observed across these areas. Some minor shortfalls were identified in relation to medicines management, health and safety and mental capacity assessments; however, these were immediately addressed by the provider and were no longer impacting people’s care.
Care plans and risk assessments had been improved and were now of good quality, reflecting people’s needs and guiding staff on how to keep them safe. Monitoring of people’s needs and outcomes had improved. Improvements had been made in responding to people’s immediate needs and ensuring they had access to call bells. Work had been completed to improve end-of-life care planning and planning for the future.
Some remaining shortfalls were identified in medicines management, the safe oversight of bed rails and the application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in assessing people’s capacity.
Whilst the provider acted promptly to address these issues when we raised them, this demonstrated the providers internal monitoring systems were not always effective in identifying quality concerns.
The provider and management team were highly motivated to maintain a high level of care to people. People’s health conditions and associated risks were assessed and managed safely.
People’s needs were assessed and reviewed. People were supported by staff who treated them with kindness and respected their dignity. Staff ensured people’s care and support met individual needs and preferences.
