People received safe, effective and compassionate care from staff who understood their individual needs and preferences. Staff treated people with dignity and respect and supported them in a calm and reassuring manner. We observed positive interactions between staff and people living at the home and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere within the home. Systems were in place to support the safe delivery of care. Risks associated with people’s health, wellbeing and daily support needs were assessed and reviewed. Staff understood safeguarding responsibilities and knew how concerns would be recognised and escalated. Medicines were managed safely and supported by audits and regular oversight processes. The environment was clean, well maintained and adapted to support people’s safety, comfort and independence.
People were supported by staff who knew them well and worked together to provide consistent care. Staffing levels were monitored in line with people’s assessed needs, and staff completed training relevant to their roles and the needs of people living at the home. Staff worked collaboratively with healthcare professionals and external services to support people’s health, wellbeing and continuity of care.
Care was person-centred and responsive to people’s individual needs. Care plans reflected people’s routines, preferences and support needs and were updated when changes occurred. Staff encouraged people to maintain independence and remain involved in activities, interests and routines important to them. Activities and opportunities for social engagement were available throughout the home to support people’s wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
Leaders promoted a positive and reflective culture focused on learning, inclusion and continuous improvement. Governance systems and monitoring processes were used proactively to identify trends, respond to concerns and support improvements within the home. Staff consistently described leaders as approachable and supportive and spoke positively about opportunities for development and wellbeing support within the home. This supported continuous improvements in care quality and helped ensure people consistently received safe and effective support.
