What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 7 September 2026 (assessment visit 9 July 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of assessment: 29 July 2026 to 4 August 2026. This assessment was undertaken to provide the service's first revised rating under the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Single Assessment Framework (SAF), which assesses evidence across a range of quality statements to understand how providers are delivering safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care. The service is registered to support 35 people. At the time of this inspection, 32 people received a service. The service provides accommodation, nursing, and personal care for older people, including people living with dementia. The service also supported a person with a learning disability whose primary need was nursing care. We considered the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture and found staff promoted inclusion, choice, independence and access to meaningful activities in line with the person's individual needs.

People were protected from avoidable harm and received safe, effective, and person-centred care from staff who understood their individual needs. Care plans contained detailed and regularly reviewed information which helped staff manage risks, promote independence, and respond to changes in people's health and wellbeing. People received support from sufficient numbers of trained staff. Medicines, equipment, and environmental safety were managed appropriately.

People achieved positive outcomes through effective partnership working with healthcare professionals and support tailored to their goals, preferences, and abilities. One person had been supported to regain mobility, confidence and independence following a significant period of immobility. Another person was supported to maintain important relationships and continue living alongside their spouse. People had opportunities to participate in meaningful activities, maintain community links and access healthcare services when required.

Leaders promoted a positive culture focused on inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement. Effective governance systems, audits and provider oversight provided assurance that risks, quality and performance were monitored and acted upon to support safe and sustainable care. During the assessment we identified opportunities to strengthen records relating to consent, Mental Capacity Act decision-making and specific restrictive practices, alongside some minor environmental improvements. These issues did not adversely affect people's care, safety, or outcomes, and leaders were responsive in addressing them.
