This was a planned assessment based on our previous rating. The provider was previously in breach of regulations relating to safe care and treatment and good governance. The provider had made improvements and was no longer in breach of regulations. Concerns identified had been addressed and there were lessons learned.
Safe staffing levels were in place and staff had the training and support to carry out their role. Recruitment was managed safely. There was an established staff team who knew people well and fostered caring and trusting relationships. The service had a positive person-centred culture. Risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing were assessed and regularly reviewed. Some minor improvements were required in relation to the management of medicines, but we found people were receiving their medication as prescribed.
People’s health needs were met and the service worked well with stakeholders and other agencies. There were strong links with health and social care professionals. The service was homely, safe and well maintained.
Audits and checks were in place to maintain oversight of the service. Governance arrangements ensured effective oversight of the care delivery. The provider and registered manager were accessible and approachable and committed to providing a person-centred, high-quality service.
