At the time of the assessment the service supported 41 people. The last assessment of Forest Manor Care Home was published 28 February 2025; the overall rating was Inadequate, and all the key questions were rated Inadequate.

At this assessment the overall rating for Forest Manor Care Home is Good. This is based upon the findings at this assessment. The service had made improvements and are no longer in breach of regulations.

People now received safe treatment and care, person-centred care and improvements to the governance of the service had been made. Nutritional and hydration needs were now being met, and the provider was safeguarding people from abuse and improper treatment.

People generally felt safe and well cared for. Staff understood safeguarding and risk management, and medicines were handled safely. Infection control was effective, and the home was clean, though some environmental hazards were noted. These hazards were addressed by the provider during and following the assessment visit.

Care was based on best practice, with regular assessments and monitoring. People were supported with nutrition and hydration, and staff worked well with healthcare partners. Consent was respected, though one gap in mental capacity documentation was identified. This was addressed by the provider following the assessment visit.

Interactions were warm and respectful, and staff knew people well. Independence was encouraged, and relatives praised the caring approach. Activities were available but limited at times, and staff morale appeared positive.

Care was person-centred, but some care plans lacked detail about preferences and life histories. People were involved in decisions, and complaints were managed appropriately. End of life care plans required further development to reflect people’s wishes in this area.

Leadership promoted a positive culture, and governance systems were strong. Staff felt able to speak up, and improvements since the last inspection were evident. Recruitment for a registered manager was ongoing, and the service worked well with external partners while focusing on continuous improvement.

This service has been in Special Measures since 28 February 2025. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.
