The inspection took place in response to some information of concern we received. Findings at inspection found people were not at risk of harm from concerns raised. People received safe care, however due to improvements needed to medicine management we found 1 breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment.

A registered manager was in place. The registered manager is registered with the Commission and is legally responsible to ensure that the service is compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

People's diversity as unique individuals with their own needs was well-respected by staff. The staff team knew people well and provided support discreetly and with compassion. People’s privacy was respected, and people were supported to maintain contact with relatives and friends. Systems were in place to encourage positive risk taking to maintain and promote people's independence. Records provided detailed guidance to ensure people received safe, consistent, person-centred care and support. Equipment was available to meet people’s needs and to help maintain their independence. People’s mental capacity and ability to consent was taken into account, and people and their representatives were involved in planning their care and support.

Staff were valued, they were encouraged to speak up and give feedback. There were sufficient numbers of trained staff, who worked well with other professionals to ensure people's needs were met safely. Staff received training to help ensure they were competent to carry out their role to ensure people’s care and safety. There was robust recruitment of new staff.

People, relatives and staff spoke positively about the service and management. People, relatives and staff were consulted and asked to give their feedback about service provision. Staff and leaders demonstrated a listening culture and were open to learning and improvements. Governance was not always effective, as improvements were still needed to medicine management from the last inspection, improvements were needed to communication, and medicine records, with more effective oversight to ensure and maintain the quality and safety of service provision
