Date of Assessment: 24 April to 27 May 2026. We carried out a site visit to the home on 24 April 2026, with the remainder of the assessment being conducted offsite. The service is a residential care home and can accommodate up to 33 people. At the time of our assessment 30 people were living at the home. Our overall rating is good. We undertook this assessment due to the aged rating of the service. People were kept safe from the risk of harm and abuse. Staff were knowledgeable about safeguarding and reported concerns promptly. CQC had been made aware of incidents which were notifiable. People enjoyed living in a pleasant environment which was clean and well maintained. However, some records of the checks of the environment being carried out was not always maintained. This was addressed on the day of our inspection. People’s care plans were person centred. Care and support were regularly assessed using best practice assessment tools, to help ensure support was relevant and current. Although we were assured care and support was being delivered appropriately to people, daily care records did not always best evidence this.

Staff worked collaboratively with external professionals. Any referrals made to external health care professionals were made appropriately and in a timely way. We received positive feedback about the standards of care and support at the home from external visiting health professionals.

Most staff had worked at the home for a long time and had developed close and meaningful relationships with the people they supported. Staff understood people’s needs and preferences well. Staff supported people with compassion, respect and dignity and considered people as part of ‘one big family.’ A relative summed it up by saying, “I think it’s wonderful, we are like a big family, it’s a nice community.” People had access to nutritious home cooked food. Mealtimes were relaxed and provided people with an opportunity to socialise. The registered manager, who was supported by a deputy manager, was highly visible within the home and approachable to people and staff alike. The provider had clear and effective governance, management and accountability systems in place.
