This assessment was carried out to check if the provider had made improvements since our last assessment.
At our previous assessment in October 2025, we rated the service as inadequate. The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations related to person-centred care, safe care and treatment, staffing and good governance. At this assessment the provider was no longer in breach of person-centred care, safe care and treatment and staffing. Some improvements were identified during this assessment in relation to good governance; however, the provider remained in breach of this regulation.
A new manager was now in post and was taking action to become registered.
People’s needs were assessed, monitored and reviewed; however, care plans were extensive and difficult to read because of duplicated sections. This meant staff may find them hard to follow which could impact on the safety and quality of care provided. We found no evidence people had experienced harm; however, we identified some care records lacked detail around repositioning, and continence care.
Staff had been recruited safely, had received regular supportive supervisions and appraisals, and had completed appropriate training to ensure safe and meaningful care delivery.
Staff told us the service had improved since the last assessment and spoke highly of the new manager. They said they felt supported and listened to. However, some staff and people’s relatives expressed concerns about staffing levels and the pressure this could place on the team at busy times.
The service worked with other agencies to support safe pathways, transitions and continuity of care, but further improvement was needed to ensure records consistently supported safe care delivery.
Staff worked closely with healthcare professionals including GPs, Podiatrists and District Nurses, and timely referrals were made to other healthcare professionals when people’s needs changed.
Staff told us how they supported people to stay independent, take part in activities both on and off site, and maintain important relationships and some improvements had been made in relation to available activities to support people’s well-being and quality of life.
In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded.
