What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 30 August 2026 (assessment visit 7 July 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of Assessment: 3 August 2026. Parkside Care Home is a residential care home providing support to older people, including people living with dementia. The home can support 36 people and the home was fully occupied at the time of our inspection. We carried out an assessment looking at all quality statements and all key questions. Accidents and incidents were analysed and trends and patterns identified to mitigate future risks. Lessons were learnt from safety events and staff were involved in changing practice to improve the service. People were protected from the risk of abuse. Some areas of the home required deep cleaning and storerooms and sluices needed tidying to ensure they could be cleaned effectively. Maintenance checks were carried out in line with expected standards. People received their medicines as prescribed; however, we identified some minor issues which were acted on immediately. Staff were recruited safely and pre-employment checks completed appropriately. Risks associated with people's care were identified and managed to keep people safe.

People's needs were assessed and care delivered in line with them. People had access to healthcare professionals and care plans documented their advice and showed this was followed. People had access to good nutrition and hydration, and modified diets were provided where required. Staff and teams worked well together and daily records were clearly written. Handover sessions took place to ensure important information was passed between staff.

Staff were kind and caring and included people as partners in their own care. People had access to social activities and events. People had access to information which was displayed around the home and easy to read. Complaints were recorded and responded to appropriately, and the duty of candour applied, and lessons learned were identified.

The management team had governance systems in place which helped them identify and address issues as they arose. The provider had recently recruited a new manager who was identifying areas for improvement and had taken timely action to ensure the quality of the service was maintained.
