What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 22 July 2026 (assessment visit 20 April 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Date of assessment: 21 April to 08 May 2026
The service is a care home without nursing, providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. We carried out this assessment to follow up on enforcement action taken at our last assessment. The provider was previously in breach of the regulations in relation to person-centred care, consent, safe care and treatment, safeguarding, good governance, staffing and notifying CQC of events. We found improvements in person-centred care, consent, safe care and treatment, safeguarding, staffing and notifying CQC of events, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. Although we found improvements, these needed time to embed and some shortfalls remained, and the provider remained in breach of the regulation relating to good governance.

The provider did not always work consistently well with people to manage risks, investigate safety incidents, ensure sufficient staffing, detect and control potential risks in the care environment, assess and manage the risk of infection and manage medicines. However, they shared safeguarding concerns appropriately and worked well with people and healthcare partners to maintain continuity of care.
The provider did not always effectively assess, review and monitor people’s needs or act in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
The provider treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion, promoted independence and staff knew people well.
The provider mostly made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment and could access this when they needed it. However, they did not always make it easy for people to share feedback.
The provider did not always operate robust systems and processes to effectively assess, monitor and improve quality and safety. Although we found improvements since our last inspection, these still needed time to be developed and embed.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the provider was not consistently meeting this in all areas.
