What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 20 December 2024 (assessment visit 7 October 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
We carried out our assessment: 14 October 2024 to 11 November 2024. At our last inspection on 4 April 2023 the service was rated as requires improvement, at this assessment we found improvements had been made and the rating of the service has changed to good. We assessed the service against “Right support, right care, right culture” guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

Right support: People were involved in assessments of their needs. People were proactively supported to meet their own aims, ambitions and interests. Risks were assessed to help keep people safe. People were given information in an accessible way to support choice and decision-making. Right care: Care was person-centred and staff protected people’s dignity and treated people kindly and with respect. Staff told us they were valued and supported in their roles, through supervisions and team meetings. This helped them meet people’s needs. Right culture: Improvements were being made in the systems for oversight and governance, as part of the continuous development of the service. There was a positive and open culture. Leaders worked well in partnership with other professionals to deliver good outcomes.

Safe
Good
People were protected from abuse and avoidable harm. Staff had a good understanding of safeguarding and were confident to raise concerns if required. If care had not gone to plan this was reviewed and any lessons learnt, shared with staff. Risks associated with people’s health conditions and support needs were assessed monitored and mitigated effectively. People mostly received their medications as prescribed, when errors had been made, these had been identified, investigated and lessons learnt shared with the team. Infection prevention and control was safely managed, and people lived in a clean home. Staff were recruited safely and there were enough skilled staff to meet people’s needs.
-

Good

People’s needs were assessed, and support and care were delivered in line with current standards to achieve effective outcomes. People’s rights for seeking their consent and respecting their choices were upheld. Staff worked well together and with professionals external to the service for the benefit of people.

Well-led
Good
The provider had effective governance systems in place that had already identified the short falls we found during this assessment. There was a service development plan in place and actions were assigned to staff, were being monitored by the manager, reviewed by the operations manager and completed in a timely manner. Staff had clear roles and responsibilities and had a clear understanding of these. People and staff shared positive feedback about the manager and the operations manager. Staff told us they felt able to speak up if they had any concerns.
