What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 3 December 2024 (assessment visit 8 October 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Date of assessment: 10 July to 9 August 2024. This included site visits on 10, 17 and 24 July 2024. This assessment was in response to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) receiving information of concern over issues such as staffing, risk management, and training. We identified 2 breaches of legal regulations concerning governance and safe care and treatment. The service did not always assess risks to people’s health and safety or mitigate them where identified. The service did not always properly and safely manage medicines. People did not always have accurate care plans to guide safe practice. The service did not always document and record necessary information. These shortfalls were not picked up by the provider’s governance systems. However, there were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. Staff were trained appropriately. People had access to appropriate support from healthcare and other professionals. The service had good infection prevention and control measures in place. Staff supported people to have independence, choice and control, and to give feedback on their care. The provider took steps to address the issues we identified following our feedback.

Well-led
No rating
Our rating for this key question remains requires improvement. Despite a previous breach of legal regulation in relation to governance, with action taken by the provider to make some improvements, the governance procedures in place had failed to highlight the issues we identified during this assessment. There was a lack of consistent and accurate recording of information in some people’s care records. Learning from incidents was not always embedded. Continued work was needed to ensure sustained improvement in accurate record-keeping. However, the provider collaborated well with healthcare and other professionals to ensure people received appropriate care and support. Appropriate policies were in place to protect staff from discrimination. Most staff spoke positively about the management team. We observed staff behaving in a manner which adhered to the provider’s values. Leaders were open and transparent during the assessment process, and they understood ongoing improvements were needed. The provider was responsive to our feedback and sought to implement changes during and following the assessment.
