This was the first assessment of this service since it was registered. We carried out a comprehensive assessment covering a total of 33 quality statements. At the time of our assessment there was 1 person using the service. As part of our assessment activity, we undertook a visit to the providers office on 12 August 2026. This assessment was carried out by 1 inspector.
During this assessment we spoke with a person that uses the service. We spoke with the provider and the service manager who were also delivering the care at the service at the time of the assessment.
Medicines were not always managed safely as clear records of administration were not in place. A medicine administration chart was put in place post assessment. Enhanced Discloser and Barring Services (DBS) certificates were not available for staff provided by a secondary provider, and we saw no evidence that they had received training. The providers staff were DBS checked and had received training. A DBS helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. Risks to people were mostly assessed and mitigated with some improvement required to assessing environmental risks.
People’s needs were assessed and the person was involved in planning and reviewing their care with changes made to their planned care when required. Independence, dignity and choice were well supported.
The provider had a good understanding of the mental capacity act and how to support people in the least restrictive way possible. Consent was sought prior to care delivery. Staff worked together with people and other professionals when required.
People’s immediate needs were responded to promptly by staff who were kind and caring and focused on delivering individualised person-centred care. Staff had guidance regarding people’s end of life decisions and were trained to respond appropriately in an emergency.
Some improvement was required to the oversight of the service. However, the provider had clear visions and values and was focussed on learning and improving the service. The provider worked collaboratively with other professionals to develop innovative care and support, to meet people’s future needs. The provider understood the importance in ensuring equity in accesses and outcomes for people.
The provider and management team were knowledgeable and capable; there was a positive culture where people and staff could speak up and be listened to and complaints and concerns would be actioned.
