We carried out our on-site assessment on 5 September 2024, off site activity started on 2 September 2024 and ended 12 September 2024.
We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.
The assessment was prompted due to concerns raised in relation to staff performance and training. We looked at 9 quality statements which included the key questions of safe and well led. We found the service had fully investigated any issues with staff performance and training was in place to meet people’s specific needs.

Safe
Good
Risks to people was included within their care records with guidance in place for staff to follow. There were enough suitably qualified staff to meet people’s needs. Safeguarding processes were followed and medicines were managed safely.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
There were processes in place to review incidents and accidents and learn lessons from them. There were regular meetings with staff to share lessons learned.

Well-led
Good
There was a positive culture at the service and the registered manager clearly knew each person the service supported very well. The provider had processes in place for monitoring the quality and safety of the service. People, relatives and staff had confidence in the management of the service. Staff were supported in their role and various recognition incentives were in place. A person told us, “I would recommend this service to everybody.” A relative said, “It is totally well managed we have had them a long time and they do listen to us.”
