Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspect where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks relating to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of our inspection 14 people were being supported with the regulated activity of personal care. The provider had recently added the regulated activity of Treatment of Disease, Disorder and Injury to their registration. At the time of our inspection, they did not support anyone with this.

The provider had an excellent learning culture where incidents were investigated, themes and trends were identified and lessons learnt were shared with staff. Reflective practice was encouraged to help support staff development, enhance professional learning, and improve outcomes for people using the service. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks to people and their environment. People were supported by staff teams who had the right skills, qualifications and experience. Medicines were managed safely.

Assessment of people’s needs met best practice and national guidance and legislation to provide them with highly effective care. Staff worked with external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for people. People’s human rights and equality and diversity needs were understood, respected and met.

Staff supported people with extreme kindness and respect. They respected people as individuals and placed them at the centre of their care so they could live their lives in the way they chose and access services as they wanted and needed. Staff acted as people’s advocate and worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team to remove any barriers to people’s goals and aspirations.

Governance and quality monitoring systems were highly effective in identifying and managing risks and focused on continual improvement. Staff wellbeing was fully supported. The service had capable and competent leaders who ensured good practice was consistently embedded in all areas.
