We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. 'Right support, right care, right culture' is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.

Safe
Good
People told us they felt safe living at Sesame and relatives felt confident with the care and support provided. People and their relatives told us they were supported by sufficient numbers of experienced and skilled staff who treated them with kindness and compassion. People were supported by staff and relatives to develop their individualised support.
-
Caring
Good
People received individualised care and support from staff who knew them well. Support plans were informative and provided staff with detailed information on people’s likes, dislikes, personal preferences, care needs and medical history. This enabled staff to support people in the way they wished to be supported; to live full and active lives; develop their independent living skills and maintain relationships with friends and families.
-
Responsive
Good
People felt involved in their care and had opportunities to talk to staff about their support should they wish to do so. Where people were not able to take an active role in coordinating their care, staff shared care plans and risk assessments with relatives to review and comment. Relatives were involved in best interest meetings and staff sought their advice or opinions before making decisions on behalf of their relations.
