What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 17 June 2024 (assessment visit 30 April 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Date of assessment 30 April to 17 May 2024.
Improvements had been made to the premises, which enhanced the appearance and safety of the service. There were processes in place to ensure a robust programme of maintenance and repair was followed. The home was clean and fresh. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and they knew how to support people in a person centred way, and in a way that promoted their independence. Risks were managed effectively and staff had clear guidance to follow which was contained within detailed care plans. People were given their medicines safely and improvements had been made to the processes to improve safety and recording.

Staff treated people with kindness and respect, and knew people they supported well. Staff were well trained to carry out their role and received positive support from management. People were actively involved in decision making about their care, and staff ensured people felt included and their views and preferences were listened to and acted upon.
Oversight and governance processes had been improved and were being used to improve the quality of care. We saw lessons had been learned from incidents, complaints and feedback. These systems and processes need to become further embedded.

Caring
Good
People’s choices and preferences were recorded in their care plans, and we saw that staff knew people well. One relative told us, “Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff”. Staff supported people with kindness, dignity and respect. There was a cheerful, friendly atmosphere in the home with laughter and banter between staff and people. We saw that people were being encouraged by staff to remain as independent as possible and were given appropriate support to do so. Staff arranged activities and entertainment to suit people’s interests and people were frequently asked for their views and preferences. Staff were well supported and felt able to make suggestions and come up with ideas for improvement.
-
Responsive
Good
People received person-centred care which respected their individual needs and their preferences. Staff knew people well and involved them in planning their care and support, and making decisions that would affect them. People were treated equally and given the same opportunities by staff who were knowledgeable about discrimination and inclusion.

Well-led
No rating
Improvements had been made to governance systems and processes, however there were still some areas where detail was not evident of what actions had been taken and when, in response to findings. The management team supported staff well and there was effective and frequent communication to ensure information was handed over and discussed to produce the best outcomes for people. Lessons had been learned from events and incidents and practice improved as a result. There was an open and supportive culture between management and the staff team.
