At our last inspection, published 19 July 2018, we rated this service as good. This inspection was prompted due to the length of time since our last inspection.

Since our last inspection, there was a new manager in post. The registered manager had been in post since 2020. There were systems in place to help improve people’s lives and experiences.

Staff were motivated to ensure people were happy and well cared for.

Medicines management systems were in place and managed well.

Staff knew how to recognise and report any concerns relating to abuse. Information was displayed and safeguarding concerns were reported appropriately.

Infection prevention control was practiced. The environment was clean, however there was one area the management team were addressing for malodour. Safety checks had been completed.

There were at times gaps in toilet support or continence care. Records also showed there were some errors in repositioning records to promote skin integrity. Immediate action was taken in response to our feedback to address this.

The registered manager spent time around the home providing support and guidance. People, relatives and staff were positive about their presence, guidance and approach.

People, relatives and staff had opportunities for meetings and sharing their views. People’s choices were sought, and they were supported in accordance with their wishes and needs in most cases. Relatives were involved with people’s care planning and reviews.

People said they enjoyed the food. The mealtime experience was pleasant and sociable with people receiving the right support. People felt they had enough to do with their time, and they had appropriate access to support services.

There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff received training and support. We spoke with 8 members of staff. Staff were positive about the service they provided, the management team and liked working there.
