People’s needs were assessed before the service commenced. Information gathered during initial assessments was used to ensure care and support were person‑centred and accurately reflected in individual care plans. Risk assessments were completed to help minimise potential risks and ensure people received safe and appropriate care.

Systems were in place to keep people safe from the risk of abuse, and lessons were learned from incidents when they occurred. Regular safety checks were carried out on the environment, utilities and equipment. There were an on-going renovation and repairs taking place in order to address environmental issues highlighted during our previous inspection.

There were enough staff to meet people’s needs, and calls bells were answered in a timely manner.

Although mental capacity assessments had been completed with appropriate records of best interests' decision-making, more work was needed to obtain people, and their relatives consent for use of CCTV.

Staff knew people well and understood their communication methods, preferences, and support needs. Relatives spoke highly about the care provided and activities. They described staff as caring, knowledgeable, and responsive.

Staff spoke positively about their roles and the support and encouragement they received from the management team. The service had systems to learn from feedback and respond to concerns. The registered manager promoted a positive culture, and staff wellbeing was actively supported.
