Key findings
We carried out this assessment on 5 August 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.
People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the MCA. DoLS authorisations were appropriately applied for and overseen. People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions they had choice, control and freedom over their lives.
People using the service were kept safe and supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. They were encouraged and enabled to take part in a range of activities that reflected their individual interests, preferences, and aspirations. Positive risk taking was supported which meant people were able to live fulfilling lives and still enjoy what mattered to them.
Staff were proactive in supporting people's health and wellbeing. They recognised changes in people's needs and took prompt and appropriate action to safeguard individuals and access healthcare support when required, helping people to achieve positive outcomes and remain safe. People’s medicines were managed safely and people received them as prescribed.
The home was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and welcoming. The environment was thoughtfully decorated to create a warm and homely atmosphere. Ongoing refurbishment work, including a hand-painted room, demonstrated the provider’s commitment to enhancing people’s living environment and wellbeing.
Staff demonstrated they were attentive in delivering care and compassionate towards the people they supported. They knew people well and consistently provided person-centred care that promoted dignity, respect, and independence.
Staff received appropriate training and development opportunities to ensure they had the skills, knowledge, and confidence to meet people's needs effectively. They were well supported by the Registered Manager, who provided clear leadership, guidance, and oversight.
Quality assurance systems were fully embedded within the service and operated effectively. Regular monitoring, audits, and reviews helped drive continuous improvement and ensured high standards of care were maintained.
