What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 31 July 2025 (assessment visit 30 May 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of Assessment: 11 June to 20 June 2025. The service is a care home providing accommodation, personal and nursing care to a maximum of 25 people, including people who may live with dementia. At the time of our visit 18 people were using the service. A registered manager was in post. The assessment was prompted in part by concerns raised to us in relation to delays in seeking emergency medical attention when people’s health had deteriorated.

The previous overall service rating was good. The overall service rating for this assessment remains as good.

The home had a good learning culture to ensure the service was consistently improving. Senior leaders thoroughly investigated accidents and incidents, actions were taken, and lessons learned.

The service had clear arrangements for accountability and staff understood their roles and responsibilities. The environment was well maintained, where areas of the home required remedial work there was a programme of refurbishment being completed.

Staff treated people with kindness and compassion and people had choice in their care. Staff supported people’s individual preferences and encouraged maintaining relationships with family and friends. Staff monitored people’s health and worked well with other agencies to ensure the best outcomes for people. Risks to people had been assessed and people had care plans to help mitigate risks as far as possible.

Staff were able to report concerns, and the registered manager had an open-door policy. The provider and registered manager worked together with a focus on delivering good care and improving systems.

Staff were skilled, experienced, and committed to delivering person-centred care. Medicines were administered as prescribed, although some improvements were identified.

However, we found some areas of staff training had not been completed or were not up to date in line with the provider’s policy.
