Franklyn Lodge is a care home registered to provide accommodation and support with personal care for three people with learning disabilities and complex needs. At the time of our visit, there were three people living at the home.
We found the following examples of good practice.

The home had taken steps to ensure people and staff were protected from preventable risks of infection. Visitors were required to have their temperatures taken and show evidence of a negative lateral flow test (LFT) taken on the day of the visit. Face masks, hand washing facilities and hand gel were available to visitors.
The home followed current government guidance in relation to COVID-19 vaccination and testing for staff and people living at the home. Staff, including agency staff were fully vaccinated, and were required to demonstrate negative LFTs and have their temperatures taken before starting each working shift.
Staff had a good understanding of infection prevention and control measures. Infection prevention and control training had been provided to all staff including agency workers. The home had sufficient and appropriate stocks of personal protective equipment (PPE). Pedal bins were available for use by staff when removing PPE.
The communal area of the home was spacious and been arranged to ensure people and staff were able to socially distance.
