The service has made the required improvements and is no longer in breach of 4 regulations found at the last inspection. People’s consent was sought before care or treatment was provided and legal requirements were met where people lacked the capacity to make specific decisions about their care. The registered manager ensured risks to people were assessed and mitigated. The provider operated effective governance systems overall. The provider had made sufficient improvements to staff recruitment and medicines procedures and acted swiftly when we identified 1 aspect of each, required action.

People’s care needs were thoroughly assessed prior to them being offered accommodation and transfers in and out of the service were managed safely. Processes were in place to ensure people’s care plans were monitored and reviewed monthly.

The registered manager and the deputy manager ensured there was a strong focus on training and development of staff and learning. Overall, there were robust governance processes to monitor the quality of the service and identify areas for involvement.

Health and social care professionals provided very positive feedback about the quality of care provided, staff’s knowledge of people and the registered manager’s openness and transparency. Staff worked closely with them to ensure people’s health and social care needs were identified and met.

Staff were responsive to changes in people’s care needs. They understood the need to speak with people and their relatives about their plans and preferences for their future care.

However, we identified some aspects of the environment and infection control required action. The registered manager took swift action to address the issues we found for people.
