The assessment was triggered due to an aged rating, having last been inspected in 2018. Whilst ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance was considered no one at the service had a primary diagnosis of a learning disability or autism and therefore we have not reported on this.

People received safe, effective and person-centred care from staff who knew them well. People told us they felt safe and were happy living at the home. We observed warm and respectful interactions between people and staff.

Care plans and risk assessments were detailed and reflected people’s individual needs, preferences and choices. Staff supported people to make decisions about their daily lives and to stay as independent as possible. People were supported to access health and social care professionals when needed, and staff worked well with partners to promote continuity of care.

The service was clean, safe and homely. People were able to personalise their rooms and make choices about how they spent their time. Medicines were managed safely, and infection prevention and control processes were in place. There were enough appropriately trained staff to meet people’s needs.

The registered manager and deputy manager were visible, approachable and involved in the day-to-day running of the service. Staff told us they felt supported, valued and able to raise concerns. Leaders promoted an open and inclusive culture. They used audits, meetings, supervision and care records to monitor quality, share learning and support ongoing improvement.
