We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People received the right support. People and staff knew each other well and staff understood people’s individual ways of communicating. This empowered people to make choices, including what they did, wore, ate and where they went. Staff supported people to access local facilities and to engage in activities in the community.

Staff provided the right care. People received their care safely from trained and supervised staff. People’s needs were assessed and reviewed, and their care was person-centred. People’s risks were assessed and mitigated, and timely referrals were made to healthcare professionals when required.

The registered manager checked the quality of care and support people received and developed action plans to ensure continuous improvements. The views of people, relatives and staff were gathered to shape and improve how the service was provided. Staff were supported to reflect upon and learn from any incidents, accidents or complaints.
