What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 13 October 2026 (assessment visit 31 July 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of Assessment: 13 August to 4 September 2026. The service is a residential care home providing care and support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. The service could support a maximum of 6 service users. At the time of the assessment, 5 people were living at the service.

The service was in breach of legal regulations at the last inspection on 11 May 2023. The service provider changed in December 2025. Since December 2025 the provider implemented new governance systems and began making improvements at the service. However, further work was needed in areas including staffing, environmental safety, infection prevention and control, quality assurance systems and overall governance. We identified a breach of legal regulation relating to staffing. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.

People were protected and kept safe from avoidable harm. Staff understood and managed risks to people’s health, care and safety. Staff were recruited safely and received appropriate support through regular meetings with their line managers. People received their medicines safely. The provider recorded and investigated accidents, incidents and other safety events, ensuring lessons were learned and shared with the staff team.

The provider assessed people’s needs and reviewed them regularly, helping them to achieve positive outcomes. Staff monitored people’s health and wellbeing and supported them to eat and drink as per their assessed needs.

Staff treated people with kindness, respect and compassion. They supported people to take part in a range of activities while promoting their independence where possible. When people became anxious or distressed, staff knew how to respond to minimise the impact on their wellbeing.

People received personalised care and support. Staff engaged with people’s relatives and representatives, while seeking their feedback.

The provider collaborated with other professionals in ensuring people received effective joined-up care and support.
