Alexandra Court is a residential care home registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 24 people aged 65 and over. At the time of our assessment, 22 people were living at the service.
People’s needs were assessed using recognised tools, and personalised care plans reflected their individual needs, preferences, and desired outcomes. People were involved in planning and reviewing their care, and staff worked closely with healthcare professionals to ensure changing needs were identified and responded to promptly, supporting positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
The provider promoted a positive safety culture, with risks assessed and managed in a way that supported people to remain safe while maintaining their independence. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and worked collaboratively with external professionals to deliver safe and coordinated care. Although two incidents had not been submitted through the CQC notification process, the provider responded promptly to feedback and implemented actions to strengthen oversight and reporting arrangements.
People were treated with kindness, dignity, and respect by staff who knew them well and provided care that reflected their preferences, routines, and personal choices. People were encouraged to make decisions about their care, maintain independence, and remain involved in aspects of daily life that were important to them. Relatives, where appropriate, were involved in planning and reviewing care, helping to ensure support remained responsive to people’s wishes.
There were effective systems in place to monitor the quality, safety, and effectiveness of the service. Regular audits, feedback mechanisms, and incident reviews supported ongoing improvement, while staff described managers as visible, approachable, and supportive. The provider demonstrated a commitment to learning and continuous improvement, promoting a culture of openness, accountability, and person-centred care.
