What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 30 June 2025 (assessment visit 10 April 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of assessment 7 May 2025 to 22 May 2025. Windsor House is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 5 people with a learning disability. At the time of our assessment, the service was supporting 1 person with their personal care needs. Windsor House was last rated good (published 23 November 2017.) This assessment was completed due to the age of previous rating. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found care and support was safe, the home was clean and hygienic. People were supported to keep safe. Staff were aware of their role and responsibilities to support people from avoidable harm and abuse. Person centred care plans and risk assessments were in place for staff to follow. The provider had a positive learning culture. The registered manager provided staff opportunities to raise concerns and ideas. There were enough staff available to meet people’s care needs. The provider had systems and processes in place to review and monitor quality of care. Staff were positive about working for the provider and felt well supported by the management team. Medicines where not always managed safely. Staff had not always completed the required training. We made recommendations and the provider told us they had taken action.
