What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 30 April 2025 (assessment visit 23 January 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of Inspection:05 February 2025 to 25 February 2025. The service is a nursing home providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia, nursing needs, and physical disabilities. This inspection was in response to CQC receiving information of concern. We found a continued breach in regulation in relation to good governance. Accidents and incidents were logged, however learning and actions to ensure this did not recur were not always in place. There were safe systems in place for transitions between services. Safeguarding concerns had been raised, and staff knew how to raise concerns externally. Mental Capacity assessment documentation and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were not always in place for people. Care plans were not always consistent or clear, and risk assessments relating to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service were not always accurate or in place. The environment was clean, and there was appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in place. People and staff shared concerns about response times to call bells and staffing levels. This meant we could not be assured people always received support when they needed. Medicines were managed well, however medication risks and possible impact were not always documented. Staff were suitably employed and trained and had access to further training when required. There was a new home manager who had plans in place to improve working relationships and ways of working. Supervisions were in place and team meetings were being reintroduced. Staff felt able to speak up, however they did not always feel communication was effective.

  1. Safe

    No rating

Safe – this means we looked for evidence that people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm. At our last assessment we rated this key question Requires Improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained Requires improvement: This meant some aspects of the service were not always safe and there was limited assurance about safety. There was an increased risk that people could be harmed.

We found one continued breach of the regulation in relation to good governance. People did not always have care plans to guide safe practice, we were not assured there were enough staff to support people safely.

However, staff had received appropriate training, recruitment documentation was in place, the home was clean and staff knew people and their needs well.

  2. Well-led

    No rating

Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture. At our last assessment we rated this key question Requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained Requires improvement: This meant the management and leadership was inconsistent. Leaders and the culture they created did not always support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care. We found one continued breach of the regulation in relation to good governance. Governance systems and audits were not always effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement.
