What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 8 October 2025 (assessment visit 8 May 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of inspection: 22, 23 July 04 August 2025. Henwick Grange Care Home is a nursing home which provides nursing and personal care and treatment for disease, disorder and injury (TDDI) for up to 46 people. The service provides support to older and younger people and people living with dementia. It also provides support to people with physical disabilities. We found 2 breaches of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. People did not always receive their topical medicines as prescribed and recording of medicines administration was not always accurate. The environment was not always well maintained or safe. Not all areas of the service were maintained to promote effective infection prevention and control practices, which had not been identified through the service’s governance systems. The provider had quality systems and processes in place; however, these were ineffective in identifying the concerns we found during this inspection. People and families were not always involved in their care planning but were aware of any changes in people’s health needs. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities, however, did not always follow best practice when delivering care to people. We observed both positive and negative interactions with people. The management team were responsive to our findings and started taking immediate action to make improvements.
