We assessed the provider against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

Some improvements were needed to ensure robust cleanliness within the service and to streamline some safety records. Care plans were person centred and reflected people’s preferences in care. Some aspects of risk required stronger focus to ensure ongoing and effective risk management.

Care plans reflected current best practice in how to support people with a learning disability and autistic people safely and effectively. Medicines management systems were safe, and safeguards were in place to ensure people did not receive additional medication without a clear rationale which was monitored regularly. Systems were in place to keep people safe from the risk of abuse and to learn lessons from any incidents People had regular opportunities to engage in activities and learning, both in their home environment and in the wider community.

People were supported to attend medical appointments when needed and the provider worked positively with other agencies to ensure health and social outcomes were achieved for people.

The registered manager demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and was responsive to any feedback we gave during the assessment.
