Governance processes and systems were not always effective in providing accurate oversight of the service or in identifying where improvements and learning were needed. Not all staff had completed the required training to ensure they were fully equipped for their roles. Medicines were not always managed safely, and further development was required to strengthen the systems in place for identifying and managing risks to people. Additional improvements were also required in aspects of the environment, staff training, medicines management, supplementary records and some audits. We have identified a breach in relation to safe care and treatment. We have requested an action plan from the provider in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
Despite these concerns, people were treated with kindness and compassion, and staff supported them appropriately with falls prevention. Safeguarding processes were understood. Staff spoke positively about the culture within the home and the support they received from leaders. External professionals told us there was good communication and effective partnership working with the service.
