What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 15 May 2026 (assessment visit 30 December 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Dates of assessment: 07 January to 20 February 2026. Wyndham House Care is a care home. It is registered to provide accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care for up to 44 people. The service provides regulated activity to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of the inspection the service was providing regulated activity to 38 people. The inspection was prompted by a review of the information we held about this service, including concerns raised regarding poor governance within the organisation. We carried out unannounced site visits on 07 January 2026 and 15 January 2026. We looked at all 5 key questions with all quality statements being assessed. We found the service provided by Wyndham House Care to the people who used it was inadequate and was not meeting its regulatory obligations. This assessment found the provider to be in breach of 4 legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment, Person-centred care, fit and proper persons employed, and governance. The provider did not have an effective quality assurance and governance system in place, and this had resulted in shortfalls that placed the people who used the service at risk of harm. The provider collected data regularly using different tools, but these did not always translate to action to mitigate risks to people. Not all risks to people had been identified and mitigated, and where risks had been identified, their management was poor. Lack of immediate action following falls meant that a person continually came to harm. Care plans did not demonstrate that people received person-centred care, and they did not contain enough information for staff to be able to provide care and support that was safe, consistent, and effective. We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at the inspection on 07 January 2026 around safe agency staffing. The provider sent us proof of the actions they were taking to address the issues raised. In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.
