We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic. The service met this guidance.

We undertook an unannounced inspection to follow up on the previous in breaches of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, person centred care, staffing, safeguarding and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the service was no longer in breach of these regulations. The onsite visit to the service began on 06 May 2025 where we met with people, some relatives, staff and management. We have undertaken a comprehensive assessment which means we have reviewed all 33 quality statements. Following the site visit we received positive feedback about the service from 7 staff members, 3 relatives and 2 external professionals.

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. The ethos in the home supported this. Care was person-centred and promoted people's dignity, privacy and human rights. The ethos, values, attitudes and behaviours of management and staff helped ensure people could lead safe, confident, inclusive and empowered lives.

People were no longer at risk of abuse or improper treatment. The registered manager promoted a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Incidents were investigated thoroughly which meant people were protected and kept safe. Support staff understood and managed risks.

The environment and equipment were clean with any potential risks mitigated. There were enough support staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience deployed to meet people’s needs. Staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality support. People’s medicines were managed safely. The service now had a registered manager who operated systems to mitigate risk and continuously monitored people's health safety and welfare.

This service has been in Special Measures since 27 March 2023. There has been a change of provider since the last inspection in March 2023.
